Salsbjerggaard

By Søren Madsen

Supplier to Spis min gris since 2022

"Spis min gris" sources organic beef from Salsbjerggaard in South Zealand, known for their premium meat production. The farm's high standards of animal welfare and commitment to sustainability result in high-quality meat, in demand both locally and internationally.

Modern Sustainability

Salsbjerggaard combines traditional values with modern innovation, investing in modern facilities and technology to measure and minimize environmental impact and CO2 emissions while ensuring that the animals have a safe and healthy life. This includes spacious stables, organic feed, and strict adherence to rules and standards.

Social Animals

The animals at Salsbjerggaard are outdoors as often as the weather permits, allowing them to explore, graze, and move freely, which is important for their well-being. Access to fresh air and natural light is fundamental to the animals' welfare.

Animals are social beings, and at Salsbjerggaard, Søren and the rest of the team work to ensure that the animals have the opportunity for social interaction with their peers. They achieve this through the design of the barns, where the animals can interact with each other, and by creating play and employment opportunities that provide mental stimulation for the animals.

The animals at Salsbjerggaard contribute to promoting biodiversity on the property. Grazing cattle help maintain open landscapes and preserve specific plant species and habitats important for insects and birds. Additionally, the animals play a role in land management on the property, helping control unwanted vegetation and prevent areas from becoming overgrown.

Sustainability and Environmental Considerations

Salsbjerggaard also places a high value on sustainability in its operations. This includes waste management, minimal use of chemicals, and conservation of the surrounding environment. Both animal welfare and the surrounding nature are highly valued on the farm.

Therefore, Salsbjerggaard is more than just a farm; it is an integral part of the local community. The farm often opens its doors for school visits and guided tours, providing people with the opportunity to learn about the farming process and understand the importance of sustainability and animal welfare.
