SPIS MIN GRIS

– i morgen skal du gårdslagtes

Much more than just good meat

Spis min gris is named after "Eat, my pig, tomorrow you must be slaughtered", an old Danish proverb that, as a joke, encourages children to eat up so they can grow big and strong.

We deliver cuts of Danish beef and pork from ambitious organic and biodynamic farmers to restaurants and canteens. Of course, all our meat is organic, but we go further than that!

  • Danish, organic beef, pork and chicken

  • Our meat comes from farmers with free-range animals

  • We purchase whole, live animals that are slaughtered as close to the farm as possible

  • We prioritize on-farm or local slaughter

  • Our animals have served a purpose, such as nature conservation or dairy production

  • We slaughter animals only when they are fully grown, ensuring each life provides as much meat as possible

  • Our beef comes from dairy production and free-range or nature-grazing animals

  • We provide full traceability for all our meat

  • Freshly slaughtered meat - we deliver 8 days after slaughter, and the meat is matured on a hook until then

Spis min gris takes pride in knowing every single farmer we trade with. That way we can vouch for the life that the animals have lived. Together, we work with farmers to turn the meat industry back on the right track, where meat from Danish animals again plays a natural and meaningful role - in gastronomy and in the world.

The animals live for life - not to die

When you buy meat from our farmers through Spis min gris, you help to raise the standard for Danish meat production.

The animals that Spis min gris gets meat from do not live just to be slaughtered. Their lives have been important, because the animals help to maintain ecological areas, graze natural areas and ensure that work is done to bring CO2 into the soil and away from the atmosphere.

Danish, organic pork and beef

Spis min gris provides both beef and pork. When the animals are farm-slaughtered, all meat is handled according to the best craftsmanship practices, from final feeding, farm slaughtering, gentle cooling, hanging, maturation, and processing.

Meat from responsible farmers

Spis min gris prioritizes meat quality just as highly as animal welfare and ethics.

Our animals has 'lived to live, not to die,' and the animals contribute positively to their surroundings by grazing, preserving biodiversity, and attracting rich bird and plant life.

“Meat has become a reviled size in the climate debate - but you can not just take the cows out of the climate equation. Cows and cow chips, for example, contribute to necessary microhabitats, which contain a rich insect and plant life and attract birds, which further enrich nature and ecosystems. At the same time, hoofed animals contribute to nature conservation because, for example, they eat coarse material and provide grazing and withered plant growth over both moist and dry areas,”

Ole Andresen, Bakkegården in Varde Ådal, where Ole's oxen ensure nature conservation and biodiversity.
